Arrived in Alanya at 1120am, 42km into the day. The D400 is at its best today, flat and gripping the coast. The sun is blazing but I really don’t mind as it’s the gradient that matters and today the gradient is flat.
Alanya is already busy with tourists, mainly north Europeans from what I can see. Alanya could possibly polarise visitors with its nightclub, karaoke, and jet ski culture but i suspect there is more to it if you take time to look. Unfortunately I won’t be taking time to look so will be missing out on Damlatas caves, Alanya castle, the house of Ataturk, and Sapadere Canyon. The spaghetti bolognese by the beach was nice though.
For what its worth I would certainly consider staying here longer were it not for the perfectly flat D400 that lies ahead of me for the next two days.
