One problem I didn’t foresee was the issue of ‘melting roads’. For the last hour or so on day 10 parts of the roads were melting in the afternoon sun. It was impossible to avoid at times meaning your tyres would pick up some hot tar, which would in turn start picking up stones, glass or whatever else was lying around. Before I start cycling tomorrow I will spend some time removing the offending objects. This is how the tyres looked when I arrived at the hotel. Not good but fortunately with Kevlar tyres this is a storm that can hopefully be weathered.
